Huawei Marine to deploy SeaX-1 subsea cable

Huawei Marine Networks has been selected by Super Sea Cable Networks to deploy SEA Cable Exchange-1 (SeaX-1), a subsea cable system linking Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. The submarine system is being targeted for completion by the end of 2017.

The 250km undersea fibre-optic cable comprises of high-speed, large capacity, 24-fibre pair of undersea fibre-optic cables that will connect Mersing (Malaysia), Changi (Singapore), and Batam (Indonesia).

“We are delighted to be selected for this project which will provide robust connectivity to these three regional data hubs,” said Mike Constable, CEO of Huawei Marine.

“Our latest generation of submarine system products combined with our service offerings will ensure a cost-effective and efficient deployment of this important regional infrastructure.”

Once commissioned, the system will be fully owned and operated by Super Sea Cable Networks and will serve operators in the region to meet increasing bandwidth demand. Joseph Lim, CEO of Super Sea Cable Networks, added: “SeaX-1 passes through one of the busiest areas in the Asia-Pacific region, where bandwidth demands are increasing exponentially.”
